Participant Information

Purpose: FUN and Skill Development

Format: 2 on 2 sand (a 3rd player may be listed on registration form as a “substitute”)

Where: Woodhaven School

Who: Maximum 12 teams per division.  Divisions are based on the 2019-2020 club season. 

  • Junior (Tues) U13, U14 (Sept 1, 2005 to Dec 31, 2007) or Grade 7 or 8 
  • Intermediate (Wed) U15 (Sept 1, 2004 to Dec 31, 2005) or Grade 9
  • Senior (Thurs) U16+ (Sept 1, 2001 to Dec 31, 2004) or Grade 10, 11 or 12
  • Priority will be given to Ravens club team members and/or beach players from previous season.
  • Coordinators reserve right to move teams between divisions (before July 7th) to even out schedules 
  • Players are prohibited from playing in multiple divisions for 2020 Beach Season.

COVID-19 Protocols (subject to Alberta Health and Volleyball Alberta guidelines)

  • Maximum 12 teams (24 players) per division.  
  • Participants must complete initial waivers and the daily screening.
  • Participants are encouraged to strictly follow all Public Health hygiene rules and general recommendations:
    • Wash or sanitize hands before, during and after each game.
    • Warmup with your own ball.
    • Avoid touching their faces, and cough or sneeze into their elbow.
    • Long hair is tied back to discourage participants touching their faces.
    • Each participant should bring and label their own water bottles, warm up volleyball, towels, and hand sanitizer.
    • Do not share equipment or personal items with other participants.
    • Avoid using change rooms, washrooms, meeting rooms, and water fountains.
    • Avoid cheering/singing, as these activities have a higher risk because infected people can transmit the virus through their saliva or respiratory droplets.
    • Unnecessary contact between participants, such as handshakes, high-fives, hugs, etc. should be discouraged, and whenever possible, all participants should maintain physical distancing of 2 meters.
    • Athletes should not wear masks.  Spectators and volunteers are encouraged to wear masks when physical distancing of 2m cannot be observed. 
    • Individuals over 65 years of age or with underlying health conditions are deemed to be higher risk. These people should not attend volleyball activities until they have medical clearance and approval to participate. Those who live with high-risk individuals should also seek medical consultation prior to their participation.
  • It is required that participants and spectators stay home if you are experiencing symptoms, are a close contact of someone with COVID-19 or traveled outside of Canada within the last 14 days.  See mandatory isolation requirements https://www.alberta.ca/isolation.aspx
  • Participants who become symptomatic are required to be isolated from others and must return home immediately.
  • Respect 2m social distancing when not playing (players and spectators)
  • Arrive no more than 10 minutes prior to your first game.  Leave the area after your final game.  There should be no gathering of groups before, between, and after games.
  • Game balls will be disinfected or replaced at frequent intervals, and at minimum should be done prior, once during and after each game. 
  • Hand sanitizer will be available; however, players are encouraged to bring their own.  
  • Rotate clockwise around (not under) net at change of point
  • If a ball enters your court, use your foot to kick it back.
  • Spectators are discouraged from attending.  

The onsite coordinator has the right to remove individuals who are not following guidance provided.
